kickin' it old school.

i remember being obsessed with my mom’s nikon N50 camera when i was 7. it was one of those huge cameras with the zoom lens, and was practically bigger than my head at that point in my life. and yes, i was a tiny child. it was a film camera, so a roll of 25 pictures was needed to be developed after a short time span.

i remembered that exact camera today, wondering where in the world it was. in the very expansive depths of my cluttered garage (my family is still to have unpacked all of the 109 boxes from our previous move and recollection of storage crates) i decided to take my chances in trying to find it.

luckily…it was in it’s designated box. “pictures, albums, cameras”, haha.

but anyways, the whole point to me writing this…
is that i just wanted to say that i’m in the mood for using film shots. i’m going to purchase myself a couple of rolls to take test shots over the weekend. i will retire my nikon D90 for a couple of months. see what direction the N50 takes me.

boy, i’ma be kickin’ old school with my mom’s camera from the 90’s.

do you remember?

ultimately, that is the one question that comes to mind when looking at old photographs.

pictures capture a moment in time and freeze it for an instance.
pictures become a lifelong reminder of what was before.

they allow people to smile in nostalgia and long for the days when things seemed to be easier. they bring back emotion: happiness, love, tenderness…

as i was cleaning out a box of clutter from my recent move stateside, i came across moments of my life that i actually wanted to keep buried. i found old notes, old pictures with “used to be” friends, old papers, brochures. i also came across sketches, videos, and more pictures of moments that i wish i could re-live again.

i realized how the human mind can only hold so much, most things are temporary. we need to find a way to be able to look back at a time and remember exactly what we were before. it leads to self-fulfillment and self-assessment. in many ways, we aren’t the same person in a photograph. maybe we need to look back and see if the person we were before was better than the person we’ve become.

I Will Be Here Passion

the acoustic guitar. i love it.
soothing, relaxing, inspiring.

like photography, music captures the natural sentiments that many take for granted. this song reminds me of serenity. the lyrics are sincere and meaningful, somebody that i strive to become.

dedicated to my best friend and my sister.
“for today and its blessings, i owe the world an attitude of gratitude.”

here’s passion singing, “i will be here.”
